Building High-Performance Environments, One Day at a Time

I've spent more than 20 years in elite women's football, working across four countries and two FIFA confederations — but the thread running through all of it has stayed the same: building environments where players, and the people around them, become better than they thought possible.

I'm currently Head Coach at Peyia-Akamas FC in the Cyprus Women's League, leading the club on a UEFA Women's Champions League qualification pathway. It's the newest chapter in a career that's taken me from academy pitches in Wales, England to a national team dugout in the Caribbean, and now to the Mediterranean — but every chapter has taught me something the last one didn't.

Where It Started

I grew up in the Welsh valleys famous for its former coal mining industry, a place built on hard work, community, and quiet pride. Football found me early, the way it finds most kids from that part of the world — everywhere, all at once. But it wasn't long before I realised the part of the game I loved most wasn't playing. It was helping other people get better at it.

That realisation became a career.

Building Academies That Produce Players

Much of my early coaching life was spent inside academy systems, doing the unglamorous work of building environments where young players actually develop — not just train. At Bristol City Women, across two spells, we built a programme that the FA recognised as England's most productive women's academy. I also led the academy at Newcastle United Women, where I learned how development principles hold steady even when resources and context look completely different.

Academy work taught me the lesson that's shaped everything since: get the culture right, and the football takes care of itself.

Coaching on the International Stage

Away from academy football, my path led to international coaching. I've worked across multiple levels of the Wales Women's National Team pathway — U17, U19, and senior — as well as within The FA's England Women & Girls Elite Talent Pathway, contributing to National Girls Advanced Coaching Centres and most recently as a Talent Reporter for The FA Talent ID Department.

In one of the most formative experiences of my career, I served as Head Coach of the Trinidad and Tobago Women's National Team. Taking charge of a national team outside the European systems I'd grown up in forced me to adapt fast — different football cultures, different rhythms, different expectations — while proving that the fundamentals of good coaching and strong leadership travel everywhere.

Cyprus: The Next Chapter

I now lead Peyia-Akamas LFC in the Cyprus Women's League, building a first-team environment from the ground up with a UEFA Women's Champions League qualification pathway firmly in view. It's a role that draws on every lesson from every previous stop — academy development, national team leadership, and the ability to build a winning culture in an unfamiliar environment, quickly.

Beyond the Touchline

Alongside coaching, I contribute to the wider football community as a guest analyst and speaker — including work as a RobinsTV analyst for Sky Bet Championship and Barclays WSL2 matches, appearances on BBC Wales, FA webinars, and features and podcast appearances with platforms including Elite Soccer Coaching, The Pro Player Podcast,SiriusXM FC, and others across the football media landscape.
