A new chapter in my coaching career begins in Cyprus.
Ginekio Sport reports on my appointment as Head Coach of newly formed Peyia-Akamas Ladies FC, ahead of the club’s inaugural campaign in the Cyprus Women’s First Division.
The article reflects on my experience across professional club football, international management and elite women’s player development, including previous work with the Trinidad & Tobago Women’s National Team, Wales Women’s National Teams, Bristol City Women and Newcastle United Women.
It also explores the ambition behind the new Peyia-Akamas project and the importance of establishing the right foundations across recruitment, player development, football philosophy and high-performance culture from the outset.

James Thomas has been appointed Head Coach of Peyia–Akamas Ladies FC, marking the beginning of an ambitious new chapter in Cypriot women’s football.
The new professional club will compete in the Cyprus Women’s First Division, with a clear ambition to establish a high-performance environment and create a sustainable pathway for female footballers across Peyia, Akamas and Paphos.
Thomas brings more than two decades of experience across elite women’s football, international football, professional clubs and player development environments. His appointment represents the club’s commitment to building strong foundations, developing people and players, and creating an ambitious football identity from the outset.
The project will combine high-performance standards, progressive football and long-term player development, with the ambition of establishing Peyia–Akamas Ladies FC as a significant force within Cypriot women’s football..
